About Cancer House
In February 2017, I learned that I had breast cancer. I’m in a rare situation of having cancer and living with my husband, Dan, who has treated it for thirty years. He’s a radiation oncologist. I’m a doctor too but not the kind who makes much money. I have a PhD in 19th century lit. so you might see a lot of 19th century quotations here. I am also the mother of three grown children (David, Elizabeth and Matt) with three terrific partners (respectively Paige, Daniel and Audrey) and the grandmother of two babies—Madeline (2) and Henry .
This blog is in three parts: Off the Top of My Head, blogs from my voice as a person currently in cancer treatment, A Second Opinion, blogs with a medical perspective and some personal thoughts from my husband, and The Outsiders, moderated primarily by my photographer daughter Elizabeth, but likely featuring lots of contributors showcasing the infinite experiences of cancer patients and families
